From <strong>April 2, 2025<\/strong>, European travelers wishing to enter the UK must apply for an ETA before departure. <\/p>\n<h2>A simplified digital process<\/h2>\n<p>Starting in early April, the <strong>ETA<\/strong> will become <strong>mandatory <\/strong> for all visa-exempt visitors. This initiative is part of the UK government&#8217;s efforts to modernize and digitize its border control system. <\/p>\n<p>Applications can be submitted via the <strong>UK ETA<\/strong> app, allowing travelers to receive a response within minutes. For those without a smartphone, applications can also be completed on the official website <a href=\"https:\/\/apply-for-an-eta.homeoffice.gov.uk\/apply\/electronic-travel-authorisation\/easier-on-the-app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gov.uk<\/a>. However, due to high demand, the website may experience waiting times.  <\/p>\n<h2>Required formalities before traveling<\/h2>\n<p>To obtain an <strong>ETA<\/strong>, travelers must provide <strong>biographical and biometric data<\/strong> and answer a few additional questions, as reported by L<em>\u2019Echo Touristique<\/em>. Once approved, the authorization is <strong>digitally linked to the traveler\u2019s passport<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<h2>Validity and cost of the ETA<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>ETA<\/strong> allows multiple visits to the UK, with a maximum stay of <strong>six months<\/strong> per visit over a <strong>two-year period<\/strong>.
