China extends visa-free entry to the end of 2026

20 Nov 2025 | Travel information

Good news for business travelers and tourists alike: China is extending its visa waiver program until December 31, 2026.
This measure, announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, simplifies access to the country for nationals of over forty nations, including Switzerland, France,Germany andItaly.

30-day visa-free stay possible

Travelers can now stay in China for up to 30 days without a visa for tourism, business or family reasons. This policy is designed to encourage international exchanges and facilitate business travel.

The list of countries concerned includes many European countries, as well as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

Simplified, digitized formalities

From November 20, 2025, China will introduce a digital entry card, replacing the usual paper form. This will speed up border controls and improve fluidity for international travelers.

The basic requirements remain unchanged, however: valid passport, return or onward ticket, and maximum length of stay.

Greater openness to international trade

More than 7.2 million visa-free entries were recorded in the third quarter of 2025, an increase of 48% on the previous year. The Chinese authorities see this as a clear sign of the country’s growing attractiveness and the success of their opening-up strategy.

With the extension of visa-free travel and the gradual digitization of formalities, China is confirming its commitment to facilitating international business and tourist travel.
