Edelweiss strengthens its short-haul fleet with 16 aircraft

Edelweiss continues to expand, and will shortly be increasing its short-haul fleet to a total of sixteen aircraft. Two aircraft from sister company Swiss will join the company in the coming months: an Airbus A320 (HB-JLQ) from mid-October 2025, followed by an Airbus A320neo (HB-JDB) in April 2026. The latter will be the first in its class to join the Edelweiss fleet.

This strategic expansion will enable the company to increase its capacity while modernizing its fleet. With the introduction of the Airbus A320neo, Edelweiss is taking an important step towards more sustainable operations, while enhancing on-board comfort for its passengers.

A more modern, environmentally-friendly fleet

The Airbus A320neo consumes up to 15% less fuel than the previous generation, reducing both emissions and noise levels. This environmental performance also paves the way for longer, more flexible flights on the airline’s European and Mediterranean network.

“I’m delighted that Edelweiss will be able to continue its development on short- and medium-haul routes, and that we’re taking a major step towards modernizing our short-haul fleet with the first Airbus A320neo. This aircraft combines cutting-edge, more environmentally-friendly technology with enhanced comfort for our passengers,” says Edelweiss CEO Bernd Bauer.

A stronger presence in Zurich

Based in Zurich, Edelweiss is thus consolidating its position at Swiss’s main hub and preparing for the future of short-haul air travel by combining efficiency, sustainability and quality of service. These developments reflect the company’s determination to remain competitive in the European leisure and business segment.
