SWISS Welcomes Its Third Airbus A350-900

SWISS’s third Airbus A350-900 has joined the airline’s fleet in Zurich. Named “Zug,” this new aircraft will be deployed starting in October 2026 on routes to Shanghai and Johannesburg, continuing the modernization of the airline’s long-haul flights.

A New A350 for Shanghai and Johannesburg

Registered as HB-IFC, “Zug” joins SWISS’s first two Airbus A350-900s, named “Lausanne” and “Delémont.”

The airline plans to add ten Airbus A350-900s to its fleet by 2030 as part of the gradual renewal of its long-haul fleet.

Starting in October, this model will be used, in particular, on routes connecting Zurich to Shanghai and Johannesburg, two major destinations for international travel.

SWISS Senses: A New In-Flight Experience

Like the first two A350s, the new aircraft features the SWISS Senses cabin, designed to enhance passenger comfort on long-haul flights.

This new experience is available in all four travel classes: First, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy.

For business travelers, these upgrades provide greater comfort, particularly on intercontinental flights.

The modernization of the Airbus A330s continues

Alongside the introduction of the A350s, SWISS is beginning the refurbishment of its fleet of Airbus A330-300s.

The first aircraft is currently being refurbished in Hong Kong to accommodate the SWISS Senses cabin. The airline plans to complete this modernization by mid-2028, in order to gradually roll out this new experience across its long-haul network.
