Swiss will be flying to Bangalore this winter

12 Jun 2026 | Airlines

Swiss will begin flying to Bangalore from Zurich for the first time in its history starting with the 2026/27 winter schedule. Officially renamed Bengaluru, the southern Indian metropolis will thus join the Swiss airline’s long-haul network, alongside Mumbai and Delhi.

This new route underscores India’s growing importance in international travel, both for business and leisure. Bengaluru is now recognized as one of Asia’s leading hubs for cutting-edge technology, innovation, and digital development.

Bengaluru, Swiss’s new hub in India

Formerly known as Bangalore, Bengaluru is one of the largest cities in southern India and the fourth most populous city in the country. Its economic growth has accelerated significantly in recent decades, driven by the establishment of major international technology companies and numerous European firms.

The city is now regarded as a major hub for high technology in Asia. For Swiss, the launch of this route therefore represents a strategic step in the development of its long-haul network, offering a high-value destination for businesses, business travelers, and innovation leaders.

The new route will operate five times a week between Zurich and Bengaluru. Flight LX140 will depart Zurich at 1:20 p.m. and arrive in Bengaluru the following day at 2:55 a.m. It will operate daily, except on Mondays and Wednesdays. The return flight, LX141, will depart Bengaluru at 4:50 a.m. and arrive in Zurich at 10:50 a.m., with flights scheduled daily except on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The flight time between Zurich and Bengaluru will be approximately nine hours. This schedule will strengthen connections between Switzerland and southern India, with flight times designed to accommodate international travel and connections through Zurich.

Swiss continues to roll out the Airbus A350

Alongside this new destination, Swiss will continue to expand its fleet of Airbus A350 long-haul aircraft. The airline plans to have five of these aircraft in service by the end of the year, enabling more passengers to experience the new SWISS Senses long-haul experience.

Following Boston and Seoul, the Airbus A350 will also be deployed on the route to Johannesburg starting with the winter schedule. Starting in September, it will also fly regularly to Shanghai. This change will allow passengers to enjoy a new cabin, enhanced comfort, and a redesigned travel experience in all classes.

A program tailored for departures from Geneva

This winter, Swiss will offer 15 short-haul destinations from Geneva, in addition to its long-haul service to New York. Berlin, Hamburg, and Pristina will no longer be part of the schedule.

This adjustment is due to ongoing difficulties in sourcing spare parts for the aircraft and engines in the Airbus A220 fleet. Swiss is therefore adjusting its schedule to enhance operational stability and planning reliability.

From Zurich, passengers will have access to an extensive network, with 60 European destinations and 24 intercontinental destinations. For the 2026/27 winter schedule, valid from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027, Swiss will offer a total of 88 destinations from Zurich and Geneva.
